OM, OM, OM, OM, OM, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva! (Click the link below to hear the chant.)
I can’t get this chant out of my mind. Sudha/Carolyn Lundeen and Devarshi/Steven Hartman, my Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training teachers, taught us this chant the first two weeks of our training in April, and I kept chanting it on my way home after the completion of my trainng in June. That was three hours of chanting, and I’m still chanting it! You might be wondering why?
That’s a good question. I wondered that myself, and after reflection, I’ve come to this conclusion. First of all, it is simple and easy to recall. Second, the tune is catchy, as you have just found out. Third, and most importantly, it represents my experience at Kripalu during my teacher training. Let me explain . . . .
OM is the sound of creation from which all life comes. I am a piece of that sound as are you, as is everything. In chanting Om, I am connecting to the vibration of oneness.
Brahma is the creator. When chanting Brahma, I am honoring and connecting to the spark of creator that lives within me and everyone. My time at Kripalu intensified this connection for me.
Vishnu is the sustainer. While being immersed in my learning, I became a sustainer: a sustainer of energy, a sustainer of the posture, a sustainer of the breath, a sustainer of the light, a sustainer of courage, and a sustainer of strength, among other things. Sustaining through the challenges brought me to Shiva, the transformer.
I have been transformed. I have opened my heart more fully. I have released hidden, stuck energies from within my body. I have heightened my connection to Source. The me that went to Kriapalu for the first two weeks of my training is not the me that left the second two weeks of my training.
Chanitng OM, OM, OM, OM, OM Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva was and is an outer expression of my inner experience at Kripalu! I am celebrating me. I am celebrating all, and I continue to do so each time I chant it! OM, OM, OM, OM, OM Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva . . . . Join me. (Click the link below to chant with me.)

The start of the new school year is fast approaching. Some school districts know what their instructional plan is going to be; others are still trying to put it together. No matter where your school district is in this process, there is more than enough angst for parents and their children related to Covid-19 as it relates […]
“You don’t have to be the tallest tree in the forest.” Those words came as a message for me from Dr. Lewis Mehl Madrona, M.D., psychiatrist, and Native American healer in ceremony the last day of a week-long healing workshop some time ago. How did I know the message was for me? I knew because as he said […]
From time to time during the Covid-19 stay-at home orders, I have had a number of dreams of two types. One is where I have lost my purse that has all of my money, insurance cards, credit cards, and most importantly, my driver’s license, my identification, in it. I search all over, retracing my steps but am […]
